Out of the Cold

Gloria McPherson is the Director of the Out of the Cold Program at East End United, a community-based nonprofit program supporting people experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, and other challenges. In this role, Gloria oversees program development and delivery, partnerships, volunteers, and efforts to strengthen and expand the services offered to the community.

Alongside this work, Gloria is a researcher focused on food insecurity and community food programs. Gloria recently led a pilot study examining the use of prepaid Food Cards as an alternative approach to supporting households experiencing food insecurity.

A retired professor and former TESL Program Coordinator, Gloria has extensive experience in adult education, curriculum writing, and developing inclusive learning materials. This combination of community-based work, research, and education informs Gloria’s approach to building programs that are practical, inclusive, and responsive to the people they serve.

Gloria has received recognition for contributions to education, community service, and program development.
