On June 16th we got together to celebrate and thank President Shaheynoor Talukder for her leadership, hard work and all her contributions towards making this year a successful one for our Rotary Club.
The Celebration was held at Tabule Restaurant.   Our past president Jim Anastasiadis who organized the dinner described it as “an evening of laughs, fantastic food, great company and the presentations of our Past President gavel and pin to President Shaheynoor, along with entertaining moments. Thank you to all who attended, it was wonderful to be able to be together live and in person!”
While it was a night of fun, tribute, roasting and socializing it was also a time to celebrate all that we were able to accomplish during the year despite the pandemic.  We had several fundraisers including a golf tournament, skate-a-thon, Cross TO Trek walkathon, wine sale, coffee bean sale and a Mother’s Day meal program that supported local restaurants and raised donations for shelters. We both sponsored and volunteered for WoodGreen’s Meals on Wheels Christmas meal delivery. We did a holiday drive collecting clothing, food and toys for people living in shelters. We provided funding, food and clothing to numerous vital community groups including shelters, food banks crisis support groups, veterans and for cancer care.
We also raised funds and donated to Rotary International to help eradicate polio and for other international projects.   Now we are involved in organizing our July 16th Blues Festival and another golf tournament on September 20th.   All this was a team effort and we wish thank Shaheynoor for her leadership, and also our board of directors, committees and all our members for all the work they did.
