Bugiri WASH in Schools Project

Joe Clarke & Nilam Bedi of from the Toronto Eglinton Club will provide a summary of the WASH in Schools Project in Bugiri Uganda. The objectives are: to provide a regular supply of clean water for drinking, latrine maintenance, hand washing, and menstrual hygiene management; to improve health and sanitation by constructing sufficient numbers of functional latrines and by setting up hand washing stations which are conveniently located; and to improve the health status and learning environment of the schools by ensuring that health, sanitation, and hygiene education training is made available to teachers, students, and interested community leaders by requiring the establishment of student-led health clubs. It is the subject of a Global Grant they have submitted, as the International Partner, along with Host Club, the Rotary Club of Ntinda (Kampala, Uganda). Toronto East is pledging funds for this project.
